Sago Spa
Chesapeake Bay, United States
2012

Project Brief

Hyatt Regency is the first four-diamond resort of the Chesapeake Bay and home to an 18,000-square-foot spa and salon, with treatments inspired by the local Eastern Shore region. The spa’s namesake, sago, is a strong underwater grass in the Chesapeake Bay, which provides life, vitality, and nourishment to the surrounding waters. With a respectful nod to the environment, eco-friendly materials were used whenever possible for the renovation, from the limestone reception desk to the salon’s recycled glass tiles. Acclaimed as “one of the Best in the Mid-Atlantic Region” by Southern Living Magazine, this Chesapeake spa offers 13 treatment rooms, multi-level indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness facility, and a children's recreation center.

Project Mandate

The spa underwent $1 million in renovations in 2012, from architecture and aesthetics to new equipment and treatments. Nika Consulting Inc. was contracted to manage the successful re-launch, and worked to streamline operations, boost efficiency, adherence to procedures, and enhance employee and customer relations.
